Dental Implants

Dental Implants

If a tooth has been lost, or extracted, the gap can be replaced with a bridge, denture or implant. Dental implants are metal Titanium posts that are surgically placed into the bone. The bone quickly grows around the implant attaching itself to the outer surface. Once the implant has been anchored by the bone, the implant is prepared to accept the prosthetic.

Let Us Answer Your Questions:

How successful is this procedure?

The dental implants which we use have over 35 years of clinical documentation with over half a million patients treated. Dental implant treatment has one of the highest success rates in dentistry.

Will my new tooth or teeth look natural?

Yes, your new tooth or teeth will look, feel and function like your own. Dental implants currently provide some of the finest restorative results in dentistry.

How long will my implants last?

The first implants were put in place 35 years ago and are still functioning perfectly. To date, there is no time limit on the life expectancy of successful implants.

How long does the implant procedure take?

The time it takes to place the implants will depend on the number of implants recommended. The doctor will recommend a periodontist or oral surgeon who will perform the procedure in an office setting with your comfort in mind. The procedure usually requires 30 - 45 minutes per implant.

Is the procedure painful?

Although this varies, most patients report that the discomfort is minimal and less than they had anticipated. We will discuss with you your options for anesthesia and plan your procedure accordingly. Any swelling that may occur usually ends within one or two days after the procedure.

How long will it take before I receive my replacement tooth or teeth?

Although this time may vary, there are some cases in which the replacement tooth or teeth can be made almost immediately following the implant placement. In some cases, there will need to be more time for healing prior to the final prosthesis.

Will I be able to chew on the implant teeth with the same amount of force and pressure as I do with my natural teeth?

Yes! Studies have shown that chewing efficiency improves significantly after treatment with dental implants and, following a brief adaptation period, is comparable to the chewing efficiency of natural teeth.

How much will implant treatment cost?

The actual cost of the procedure will depend on the number of implants necessary, the position of implant placement and the type of replacement teeth that will best meet your needs. Dental implants represent a wise investment in overall health and well-being and provide you with substantial long-term benefits. We will be happy to discuss with you affordable payment options.
